@purimgifts is an annual all-fandoms-welcome exchange for fanfic and/or podfic (either or both, participant’s choice!) with a side-helping of art, focusing on characters who’re at least one of: women, Jewish or persecuted by evil viziers.
This choice of focus is because @purimgifts celebrates the Jewish Holiday of Purim, which commemorates one smart orphan-girl saving her people from genocide (plotted by the king’s vizier) and becoming a queen while she’s at it. You totes don’t have to be Jewish to participate, in case that wasn’t obvious.
ALL fandoms eligible! We won’t reject a fandom unless it’s, like, a romance between a Nazi officer and a Jewish inmate, or something else of that sort and scale. The Top 3 haven’t changed at all; most of the movement is in the lower places. Also notably, Forget your perfect offering had the same raw score last year (#3 on Comment Threads, not Top 10 on any of the other parameters), but then it wasn’t enough to get it on the overall Top 10.
In 2018, I made a list of six works that scored Top 10 every year since 2014, when I started tracking. Five Times Alex Kissed Nikita dropped off this list this year, but I should really add The Woods which has been in the Top 10 since it was published in 2017. This list corresponds with top top 6 places in the 2020 ranking, though the internal order may be different. (I didn’t bother to work it out.)

I just spent some time on my dash for the first time in… a year? More than a year? So I cleaned out my following even more and cleaned out a hell of a whole lot of followed tags as well. We’re going into our second lockdown (albeit so far it seems like I’ll get to actually go to work until Sukkot hits), so if spending time on tumblr is a thing I do again, that might be nice.
That said, I haven’t been on here in at least a year. (Purimgifts doesn’t count; I was doing exchange-relevant things and That’s It.) So if we used to hang out before I just… stopped spending time on tumblr, you’re quite welcome to catch me up.

The flatmates and I remain, best we know, COVID-19 free.
I’m the only person in the household who still has paid work to do; the others are all on unpaid leave. They should be entitled to unemployment, but given Israel has +500k persons demanding unemployment over the past week (the overwhelming majority of whom due to unpaid leave), that may take a while to process. Granted we don’t have anything to spend money on other than groceries and bills, so hopefully everyone will make it through financially speaking.
On the geopolitical front, wish us luck: our only chance of getting rid of Netanyahu is Liberman agreeing to a coalition supported by the Arab party, a scenario which - more or less - requires hell to freeze over. So, y'know.

So I haven’t been on here in months, but given the situation…
My flatmates and I are, at present and best we know, COVID-19-free. All of us are either working from home or off work until further notice, and minimizing engagement with the outside world. Our corner of the country is relatively fine right now, but I know how quickly this can change.

Is my fandom eligible? ALL fandoms are eligible; “nominations” is a misnomer - all fandoms will be approved unless they’re, like, a romance between a Nazi officer and Jewish inmate or something else of that sort and scale. Nominations and signups will run concurrently.
Do I have to request/offer both fanfic and podfic? Nope! You can request/offer only one or the two, or request both and offer one, or really any combination thereof; you can also make separate requests/offers for each! If this is confusing to you, we warmly suggest you visit @purimgifts and read our rules, FAQ and Signup Guide, all of which are conveniently accessible from there.
How’s the podfic to fanfic ratio? How this year goes is up to you, but in previous years we’ve had way more podfic requests than offers, so more podfic offerers would be awesome!
